2021 FlowCam Aquatic Grant Program is Ready for Launch

The FlowCam Aquatic Research Equipment & Travel Grant is back by popular demand for the 2021-22 academic year. This equipment grant provides an opportunity for one graduate student and up to two undergraduate faculty members to receive the use of a FlowCam for the semester of their choice.

Graduate applicants are eligible for a FlowCam 8000 (8100 or 8400) and undergraduate applicants are eligible for a FlowCam 5000.

Here are a few key changes that we have made to the program this year:

  • Applicants are no longer restricted to having the FlowCam in the fall semester. Instead, you can choose a semester to coincide with fieldwork, teaching schedules, etc.
  • The graduate and undergraduate deadlines will be staggered (March 15th for graduate and June 15th for undergraduate), allowing graduate students to take advantage of the summer sampling season if needed, and providing undergraduate faculty with time over the summer to submit their applications.
  • Undergraduate faculty can apply to use the FlowCam as part of a class (Curriculum category) and/or to support the research of a particular student (Research category).
  • YFT will provide a new set of proposal guidelines for each program in lieu of an application form to create more flexibility.
