FlowCam Education an Important Part of 2022 Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting

This May, nine aquatic science organizations will come together in person to host the largest aquatic science conference in history. The 2022 Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting "is designed to bring together deep, multidisciplinary subject-matter expertise to collaboratively educate one another and solve the complex environmental problems facing our society and our planet today".

Our aquatic FlowCam team will be joining in on the fun with several opportunities available to further your FlowCam education. We will be offering individualized FlowCam Learning Sessions in our booth for new FlowCam users, long-time users looking for a refresher, or anyone who needs their burning FlowCam questions answered. Visit our booth any time on Monday, May 16th, to sign up for one of our 1-hour time slots available through the rest of the week.

We will also be presenting FlowCam data in presentations that we encourage anyone who is FlowCam-curious to attend:

On Monday, May 16th, at 2:45 pm, Savannah Judge will be giving a talk titled “Using FlowCam for Marine HAB Monitoring in the Field-Based Undergraduate Ocean Classroom”. This 15-minute presentation will focus on integrating FlowCam into undergraduate-level curriculums, using recent FlowCam research grant recipient Maine Maritime Academy as a case study.

On Wednesday, May 18th, from 5:30-7:30 pm, FlowCam water quality monitoring specialist, Polly Barrowman, will be presenting a poster in Exhibit Hall AB titled “An Integrated and High-Speed Approach to Monitoring Cyanobacteria in Lakes, Reservoirs and Finished Drinking Water”. This is a great opportunity to learn how FlowCam is used by municipal water utilities to analyze drinking source water.

Lastly, 2021 FlowCam research grant recipient, Zabdiel Roldan Ayala, will present his research in his talk, "Characterization of Phytoplankton Assemblages in Long Island Sound Using the FlowCam 8100", on Friday, May 20th, at 3:30 pm.

Whatever events you attend, please visit us in Booth 523/525 - the first 50 visitors will get a free Zooplankton t-shirt!
