Fluid Imaging Technologies - Data Like You've Never Seen Before - a state-of-the-art instrument for rapid monitoring of particles in fluid

Fluid Imaging Technologies, Inc. Introduces New Technology for Fluid Particle Analysis Within The Coatings Industry.

Fluid Imaging Technologies, Inc. of Edgecomb, ME, today introduced its FlowCAM® , a continuous imaging fluid particle analysis system at the annual ICE Conference in Chicago. The FlowCAM is an instrument for fluid particle analysis which combines the capabilities of a particle analyzer with a high resolution digital imaging microscope. It can measure and record data on particle size, particle shape, area, fluorescence, and laser light scatter. As this data is collected, the system also collects digital images of each particle which are referenced to the other acquired data, enabling detailed post processing such as pattern recognition and morphology. These measurements can be acquired both from discrete samples as well as in situ, enabling continuous real-time monitoring of a particular process.

The FlowCAM uses a proprietary, patented optical element with the objective lens in order to increase the system’s depth of focus. This gives the system greater clarity of imaging at higher magnifications, and also enables the system to be used at higher flow rates than other instruments. The system has two modes of operation: continuous imaging, where images of the sample are collected continuously at a preset time interval, and “triggered” mode, where the images are gathered only when a “trigger” is issued to the camera based upon light scatter or fluorescence parameters set by the user. The software features an “interactive scattegram”, which allows the user to highlight a particular area of interest on a scattergram, and then display all particle images associated with that area.

The FlowCAM is available both in a “benchtop” version for use in the laboratory, and a “portable” self-contained unit for use in the field. Fluid Imaging will be demonstrating the FlowCAM at Booth #1216 during the ICE conference.
