Fluid Imaging Technologies Sells First FlowCAM® for Petrochemical Applications
Fluid Imaging Technologies, Inc. (FIT) of Edgecomb, Maine, continues its market diversification program by selling its first FlowCAM® into the petrochemical industry. Specifically, ChevronTexaco's global research department recently purchased a Portable FlowCAM. It was delivered to its San Juan Valley (California) oil basin to facilitate timely data gathering for a high-profile project.
The FlowCAM's inherent imaging, particle analysis and laser-based detection of oil in water combines the functionality of several pieces of gear into one system. Indications are that additional units may be deployed worldwide. In the United States, approximately ten barrels of water are extracted for every barrel of oil. Water recovery and purification requirements are mandated by U.S. EPA standards. Clean water is reinjected into the ground.
Fluid Imaging Technologies is the developer of FlowCAM — a high-speed digital imaging flow cytometer. The FlowCAM merges the functions of flow cytometry and microscopy by automating analysis, measurement and imaging of particles and cells in a continuous flow. The FlowCAM saves time by eliminating tedious microscope work, and provides real time monitoring of manufacturing processes.
